TPI Primer MB

I. DESCRIPTION:

TPI Primer MB is a two-component, solvent-free, epoxy-based moisture barrier primer with low viscosity.
It is used as a primer for concrete surfaces in areas that cannot be completely dry before applying an epoxy floor coating.

II. APPLICATIONS:

TPI Primer MB is suitable for the following applications:

  • Primer for concrete substrates, cement mortar, and epoxy mortar when the surface cannot be completely dry.

  • Prevents moisture rising to the concrete surface.

  • Acts as a moisture-resistant primer for epoxy flooring systems.

III. ADVANTAGES:

  • Easy to apply, short application time.

  • Non-toxic. Solvent-free, suitable for restricted areas.

  • Low viscosity, good penetration ability.

  • Excellent adhesion.

V. APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:

Surface Preparation:

  • Concrete surface must be sound, with minimum compressive strength of 25 N/mm² and adhesion strength of at least 1.5 N/mm².

  • The surface must be clean, dry, free from contaminants such as dust, oil, grease, old coatings, or curing compounds.

  • Weak concrete and dust must be removed. Surface defects such as holes, cracks, and protrusions must be repaired and leveled.

Moisture Check and Primer Application:

  • Check surface moisture, relative humidity, and dew point before application.

  • When surface moisture ≥ 4.5%, use TPI Primer MB as a moisture barrier primer.

Mixing Procedure:

  • TPI Primer MB is supplied as a two-component system: base component A and hardener B.

  • Stir component A thoroughly before mixing. Add component B into component A and continue mixing for 3 minutes until a homogeneous mixture is obtained.

  • Avoid over-mixing to minimize air entrapment.

  • Use a slow-speed mixer (300–400 rpm) or other suitable mixing tools.

Primer Application:

  • Ensure complete and continuous coverage of the substrate.

  • For low/medium porosity concrete: 1 coat of TPI Primer MB is sufficient.

  • For high porosity concrete: apply 2 coats of TPI Primer MB (perpendicular directions).

  • Application methods: brush, short-nap roller, or squeegee.

Cleaning:

  • Clean tools and equipment immediately after use.

  • Once cured, the product can only be removed mechanically.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • Do not substitute the primer with other products.

  • Primer must be applied evenly across the surface.

VI. HEALTH & SAFETY INFORMATION:

  • Personal Protection: Wear appropriate protective clothing, goggles, and gloves during application. May cause allergic reactions upon contact with eyes, skin, or mucous membranes.

  • Ecology: Do not discharge into waterways or soil.

  • Transport: Not classified as hazardous.

Refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and other relevant safety documents.
